Under the Magnolia Tree

This meditation was created with the thought in mind of encouraging strength, will and determination.

It brings in the influence of the first ray, the red ray of will and purpose, though at the same time brings in the softness of love and light represented by the magnolia flowers filtering the light of the sun before it reaches you.

Meditation
Quieten your mind and consciously release any tension that you feel throughout your body.

Visualise a golden ball of light within the earth and take a strand of that light up through the base of your spine and let it rest in your heart centre.  Next, visualise a white ball of light just above your head in your soul centre and allow a strand of that light energy to flow through the crown centre at the top of the head and down into your heart centre. Take a moment to adjust to being connected above and below.

Visualise yourself standing in front of a meadow. The meadow is full of vibrant bright red poppies, stretching as far as the eye can see. The poppies seem to almost glow in the light of the sun.

Take yourself for a walk through the poppy meadow, weaving yourself a path through the tall strong flowers as they appear to dance around you.

After a couple of minutes, you come to a tree: a great magnolia tree. You notice that the magnolia tree is full of blossom, its branches heavy with the pink and white tinged magnolia flowers.

Take a seat under the tree, leaning up against its trunk. The pink and white magnolia flowers form a canopy above you, filtering the sunlight as it beams down and providing you with some partial shade.

While sitting there quietly, you visualise a deep red rose approximately 6 inches above your head. You allow the red rose to move down into the sphere of light directly above your head which is your soul centre. As it does so, it infuses its energy into the light, turning it red.

Bring a strand of this red light down through the top of your head, through the throat and into the heart.

After a couple of moments, continue to let the light flow, taking it down from the heart to reach the base of your spine.

Sit for a couple of minutes with the red rose energy.

When ready, thank the great magnolia tree for its shade and support while sitting there. Stand up and take yourself back through the meadow of vibrant red poppies, back to the place where you started.

Slowly bring your senses and awareness back into the room, become aware of the feeling of the earth beneath your feet and open your eyes when you feel ready.

Meditation with colour

This meditation also involves a short exercise at the start. Meditating with colour can be very powerful as it enables you to bring in a very specific vibration of energy that your body or a specific part of your body is in need of by using specfic colours,

The higher consciousness is aware of any imbalances in the body or energy field and so by using the higher consciousness to guide you towards the needed colour vibration you can meditate with this colour to re-dress the balance.

Exercise
Before doing this meditation, you will need to ascertain which colour you need to work with at this time. To do this, you can use a pendulum if you are familiar with using them, or simply use the intuition.

You will find it useful to have a colour wheel to hand and then hold the question in mind "What colour do I need right now?" while using the pendulum to pick a colour or, if using the intuition, choose the colour you are immediately drawn to.

If you have some coloured cloths or coloured cards, you could use these in the second part of the meditation by holding the colour over the area that needs that colour energy and visualising it as fluid energy which can permeate into the body. The meditation below can be used as a guide and the words can be easily adapted to incorporate coloured cloths etc.

Imagine now that the ball of light  just above your head has changed into the colour that you have chosen in the exercise.

Emmanating from that coloured sphere is a shower of light raining down into your energy field saturating it with its pure coloured light energy. Take a few moments to let it fill your energy field.

Now, focus your minds attention back to the coloured sphere of light above your head. Bring the coloured sphere down through the crown centre at the top of your head and into your body.

Use the creative imagination to allow this coloured sphere of light to move through your body to the energy centre or other place in your body that needs it most at this time. Let the sphere of coloured light settle here for a while.

Its energy is fluid and radiates out, revitalising and strengthening this area. Hold your focus on the radiance of this coloured light for a few moments.

When finished, allow the coloured sphere of light to move down through the body, out through the base centre at the bottom of the spine, and into the earth.

Slowly bring your senses and awareness back into the room, become aware of the feeling of the earth beneath your feet and open your eyes when you feel ready.

The potential of the whole

I experienced this lovely meditation while receiving absent healing from two friends.

It was very powerful and took me to a place of expansive understanding.

Take yourself to the shore of a vast and isolated lake. Sit quietly and meditate as the waters stretch out before you. The sun is setting and  dusk is upon you creating a slight haze across the lake.

As you meditate, you become aware of a light within you, a single flame gradually growing brighter. As your mind quietens, you become less aware of yourself and start to blend with the flame until you and the flame are as one, glowing brightly.

With the light that you are generating, you now become aware that there is something across the other side of the lake. As the image clears in your mind, you realise that what you are seeing is another light, another flame, on the opposite shore of the lake.

Soon, you notice another light glowing to the left and then another to the right. Gradually, more and more lights appear. When you first sat on the lake shore, you thought you were alone, now you realise there are many lights, many flames, dotted all around you.

You watch as all the individual flames flicker and dance, uniting together as one.   You are no longer a single flame, you are part of each and every light you see around you.

The flames reflect in the water of the lake, magnifying the potential of the light being generated. The surface of the lake becomes alive, a glowing glistening expanse of pure intent. A pool of light, a pool of love, a pool of potential which radiates out to the far corners of a space beyond the extent of your imagination.

You realise the potential of the whole is far greater than the individual and, more importantly, that the individual is always part of the whole. Keep this thought in mind, while you sit for a few more moments or as long as you feel comfortable.

Slowly bring your senses and awareness back into the room, become aware of the feeling of the earth beneath your feet and open your eyes when you feel ready.

A rose in the heart

This is a really simple but beautiful meditation, inspired by an article I read in an old copy of Paradigm Shift Magazine.

Rose are symbolic of love and are lovely to use with a heart centred meditation. This meditation represents the opening of  the heart centre to reveal our inner beauty and the light which shines from our core.

Using the creative imagination, visualise a pure white rose within the white ball of light just above your head.

See this rose coming down through the top of your head, your crown chakra, and continuing down through the brow and throat and then into the heart.

Focus your awareness on this rose and pay particular attention to its petals.

Watch as the petals unfold and open out one by one, as the rose expands  to reveal an inner bud .

Now that the rose is fully open, it radiates out beautifully soft, loving light and energy.

Stay with your focus on the rose within the heart for as long as you feel comfortable before moving on to the next step.

Slowly bring your senses and awareness back into the room, become aware of the feeling of the earth beneath your feet and open your eyes when you feel ready.

The light in the clearing

Using the power of the creative imagination, this meditation enables you to visualise a space where the lower mind can becomes quiet.

In this stillness, your being becomes vitalised and your true thoughts become clear

See yourself standing before a vast field of long tall grass. The grasses are as tall as you are and  sway in the breeze like a golden sea. You find yourself a pathway through the tall grass and as you pass through you notice the dull hum and constant buzzing noise that they make as they dance in the wind.

You come to a clearing in the centre of the field and notice a sphere of light in the middle of this clearing. You go to sit down and notice a seat made perfectly for you.

As you sit, you become aware of a stillness, a silence far removed from the hum of the long grasses. This stillness makes the sphere of light in front of you ever brighter. As you sit and bask in the light emmanating from the sphere you find strength and comfort from the stillness that surrounds you.

Sit there as long as you need. You may hear words of inspiration, images or some form of message. Make a note of anything that comes to you. Know that this seat by the sphere of light in the clearing is always there for you to return to.

When you are ready, rise from your seat and walk out of the clearing to find the path back through the field of tall grass.  Walk through the field of golden swaying grasses until you are back at the edge of the field where you began.

Slowly bring your senses and awareness back into the room, become aware of the feeling of the earth beneath your feet and open your eyes when you feel ready.

Meditation with the global collective consciousness

This visualisation was given to me during a meditation at the time of the new moon. It expands our minds and makes us aware that we can connect to a consciousness higher than our own and that we can join with other beings to be as one.

The meditation can be as long or short as you like. Stay in the space for as long as feels comfortable and keep your mind open and receptive. Make a note of any images or messages that you receive.

With your focus in the soul centre, become mindful of a golden ball of light high above you which is the global collective consciousness.

Mindfully take a strand of light from your soul centre to join with this collective consciousness and link in to this higher frequency vibration.  Let yourself adjust to this frquency of vibration for a few moments and feel your entire being buzzing with a fine golden energy which rains down on you like a fine mist.

Take a moment to realise that you are actively part of a collective consciousness and we are connected to all light beings. As each person connects up to this consciousness, it raises our vibration and works towards raising the whole vibration of the planet.

Feel connected, feel as one, feel supported by all other light beings, be strengthened and nourish and at the same time you are helping to strengthen and nourish others. Time and distance right now are immaterial. Stay in this place for as long as you feel necessary.

Slowly bring your senses and awareness back into the room, become aware of the feeling of the earth beneath your feet and open your eyes when you feel ready.

Meditation to clear Chakras

The body has 7 major energy centres, often referred to as chakras, which are aligned along the body from the base of the spine to the top of the head. These centres are associated with different parts of the body on a physical level as well as on many other levels. The centres can become blocked, preventing the free flow of energy around the body, and this can manifest as emotional problems, mental issues or even as physical pain. A good explanation of what each centre relates to can be found here.

This is a slightly longer meditation as it works through each of the centres in turn repeating the same process to bring light down from the soul and help clear any blockages. However, it is well worth spending some time on to get the most benefit, particularly if you are already aware that a particular centre needs clearing.

I have represented each energy centre as a sphere of light in this meditation, however you may wish to adapt it to visualise coloured spinning disks or glowing gems. There is no wrong way to do this, just keep an open mind and keep that connection to the higher consciousness of the soul centre and see what may materialise and what insight you may be given.

As an example, I will write in the comments below this post the images that came to me the last time I used this meditation.

Base or Root Centre
Begin with the base centre and visualise a red sphere of light located at the base of your spine. Note whether it looks a little dull or faded. Bring a strand of white light down from the soul centre just above your head, taking it through the crown, through the brow, through the throat, heart and stomach and into the base centre. Feel this centre being energised and filled with life force energy. Continue to visualise the flow of light until the base centre is bright and shining.

Sacral Centre
Now move up to the sacral centre which is located just below your navel. Visualise an orange sphere of light and note any dull or faded areas. Again bring a strand of white light down from the soul centre, just above your head, taking it through the centre of your body and bring it to rest in your sacral centre. Feel this centre being energised and filled with life force energy. Continue to visualise the flow of light until the sacral centre is bright and shining.

Solar Plexus Centre
Move up to the solar plexus centre which is located in the centre of your stomach area just below your ribs. Visualise a yellow sphere of light and note any dull or faded areas. Again bring a strand of white light down from the soul centre, just above your head, taking it through the centre of your body and bring it to rest in your solar plexus centre. Feel this centre being energised and filled with life force energy. Continue to visualise the flow of light until the solar plexus centre is bright and shining.

Heart Centre
Next move up to the heart centre which is located in the heart. Visualise a green sphere of light and note any dull or faded areas. Again bring a strand of white light down from the soul centre, just above your head, taking it through the centre of your body and bring it to rest in your heart centre. Feel this centre being energised and filled with life force energy. Continue to visualise the flow of light until the heart centre is bright and shining.

Throat Centre
Move up to the throat centre which is located in the throat. Visualise a blue sphere of light and note any dull or faded areas. Again bring a strand of white light down from the soul centre, just above your head, taking it through the head and bring it to rest in your throat centre. Feel this centre being energised and filled with life force energy. Continue to visualise the flow of light until the throat centre is bright and shining.

Brow Centre
Now move up to the brow centre which is located above the eyes in the centre of brow. This centre is also known as the third eye. Visualise an indigo/violet sphere of light and note any dull or faded areas. Again bring a strand of white light down from the soul centre, just above your head, and bring it to rest in your brow centre. Feel this centre being energised and filled with life force energy. Continue to visualise the flow of light until the brow centre is bright and shining.

Crown Centre
Lastly, move up to the last centre within the body: the crown centre which is located at the top of the head. Visualise a white sphere of light and note any dull or faded areas. Again bring a strand of white light down from the soul centre, just above your head, and bring it straight down to rest in your crown centre. Feel this centre being energised and filled with life force energy. Continue to visualise the flow of light until the crown centre is bright and shining.

Now that you have worked through each of the seven major energy centres within the body, scan through your whole body to check that each centre is shining brightly and that all appear equal in size. If any still appear too small, or too large, simple visualise bringing light down from your soul centre above your head to that centre until it feels balanced.

When you are content that all of your centres are balanced and re-energised, slowly bring your senses and awareness back into the room, become aware of the feeling of the earth beneath your feet and open your eyes when you feel ready.

Meditating with a crystal

Many people are drawn to crystals and perhaps have a few lying about the house. However, crystals are not just pretty ornaments, they each have specific vibrational energies which can be used for healing purposes by both the beginner and the more experienced.

A simple way to benefit from the healing properties of a crystal is to meditate with it, thereby connecting  through your higher consciousness to the crystal's vibrational frequency.

Meditation
Choose a crystal to meditate with and sit quietly in a comfortable upright position holding your crystal in your lap.

Now focus your mind within your soul centre above the top of your head.  Take this focus to the crystal in your hands and become aware of the vibrational energy of the crystal. Use the creative imagination to allow the crystal to grow in the distance in front of you to the size of a mountain.

A path leads up towards the crystal and as you start to follow it you see a bridge which is made of a beautiful rainbow. This bridge takes you to a door in the side of the crystal mountain. As you go through the door, you step inside the crystal and feel a sense of calm and tranquility. Walking further into the crystal you come across a second door.  As you open it and walk through, you enter a beautiful chamber at the very heart of the crystal. Here you find a comfortable seat and can take a moment to connect to the soul and higher consciousness of the crystal.  In connecting to the consciousness of the crystal, remain open and willing to receive any higher guidance, insight or understanding.

When you feel ready, thank the consciousness of the crystal and start to make your way out of the chamber through the inner door and along to the door in the side of the crystal mountain.  Step out onto the rainbow bridge and cross down to the path on the ground, walking away from the crystal as it shrinks back down behind you to its original size.

Become aware of the crystal back in your hands and the feeling of the earth beneath you. Bring your senses and awareness back into the room and open your eyes when you feel ready.

Meditation to connect up to the soul and down to the earth

Here is a simple meditation to begin with and is ideal for those starting out in meditation. The idea of this meditation is to practise connecting to your soul centre (just above the top of your head) and expanding your consciousness.  Connecting above to your soul centre and below to the earth (steps 1-5) is a useful beginning to most meditations.

Meditation
1. Sit quietly in a comfortable upright position, release all tension that you may feel in your body.

2. Take a line of light down from the base of your spine into the ground and visualise this line of light penetrating the layers of the earth until it reaches a golden ball of light in the earth's centre. This line of light connects you to the earth and keeps you grounded during meditation.

3. Take a strand of light from the golden ball of light in the earth's centre and draw it up through the layers of the earth, then through the base of your spine, through the lower centres and bring it up to rest in the area of your heart.

4. Now bring your focus to a point which is a couple of inches above the top of your head, the Soul centre. Here, visualise a ball of white light shining brightly.
5. Take a strand of light from the white ball of light above your head and drawn this down through the top of your head, through your brow and throat and bring it to rest in the heart.

6. As the two strands of light meet in your heart centre, they merge, blend and fuse together. Take a moment to note how this looks and feels inside your body and become aware of being connected both to the earth below and to the Soul or higher consciousness above.

7. The fusion of these lines of light in the heart centre create a ball of light which glows inside you.  Let this ball of light radiate and gradually expand outwards until it encompasses your whole body. This light resonates with every cell in your body and raises it's vibration.

8. Expand this ball of light even further, extending beyond the physical body and into the energy field. Let the light expand as far as feels comfortable at this time and sit for a while within this energy, noting any feelings or images that come to you.

9. When the time feels right, bring your awareness back to your heart centre and take a line of light down through the base of the spine and into the earth to ground you.

10. Slowly become aware once again of your surroundings and the room that your are in. You may find it useful to write down any thoughts, images or feelings that you have experienced during your meditation

Welcome post

I have been nudged over the last couple of years to take forward and develop my spiritual side. More recently, I have been given a big 'kick up the bum', so to speak, by the universe as I had been blatantly ignoring those niggles.  Like a lightning bolt, I had a huge realisation that coincided with the winter solstice and a full moon eclipse that my life will remain stagnated until I take the step to start sharing my experiences and insight to help and support others.

So, with a new year starts a new venture; a part of which is this blog. Meditation has helped me greatly and this is one aspect that I wanted to promote and share with others.  My aim is to create a collection of meditations that I have written or come across so that others may use them. I will also share any thoughts that come to me during my meditations and would love for any readers to share anything which comes to them as a result of these meditations.

To start off this collection, I am first including the words given to me during a meditation on new years day which have instigated the creation of this site:

1/1/11
The light of our souls dance in the sky, vibrating in unison with the love of the universe. Vibrational changes take place as we raise our consciousness and become tuned to the light of our souls.

We must listen to the voices that guide us through and act as a beacon of light when the world around us appears dim. The time is now for action to be taken and progress to be made. Dont hesitate for thinking that it may be wrong or scary. The fear inside is capable of blocking out the flame of truth and warmth within the heart. Dont let it be shielded for it is time for this flame to burn brightly and light the way forward. Trust in your inner self.
